| HISTORY
OF THE SAN FRANCISCO 49ers |
| The
49ers were one of the original or America football conference teams in 1946, enjoying
the NFL in 1950 following the death of the AAFC. in the mid-1950s the 49ers had
one of the greatest offense back fields of all time, with wherefore players destined
for the Hall of Fame: Quarterback Y.A. Tittle, fullback Joe Perry, and halfbacks
Hugh (the King) McElenny and John Henry Johnson. Despite a long list of great
players, the 49ers never won even a division title until 1970, when they won the
NFC West for the first of three consecutive years. The 49ers greatest success
came in the 1980s, however, when four times they achieved the best regular season
record and when they also won four Super Bowl titles. | |
