NEW YORK JETS HISTORY
The Jets were founded as one of the AF sells original six teams, when they were known as the T-shirts, the takeoff on the Giants. In 1963, the team was purchased by a syndicate that re-named it the Jets and made Weeb Ewbank the head coach. Two years later, the Jets drafted Joni myth, who not only became the first player ever to pass for 4000 yards in a season (in 1967), but who led to team to success of divisional titles (1968-69) and to victory in Super Bowl 3. Name as was rarely healthy for an entire season after the Super Bowl victory, and after 1969 the Jets did not make the playoffs until 1981.
