ENGLAND PATRIOTS HISTORY The Patriots were the eighth
club chosen as one of the original members of the American football week, they
were known as the Boston Patriots. On 9 September 1960, the first regular season
game into a fellow history, the Patriots were defeated by the Denver Broncos 13-10.
The Patriots first player was a wide receiver and kicker named Gino Cappelletti,
who led the AF fell in scoring five times in its first seven years. In the late
1960s the Patriots had the most effective runner in the AF L., big fullback Jim
Nance, who twice lead the week in rushing. After the 1985 season, the Patriots
became the first came to go to the Super Bowl after having had to win three playoff
games on the road; they defeated the Jets, the Raiders, in the Dolphins, before
losing to the Bears and Super Bowl 20. |
